To know more about the creation of Boule de coton...
Hi, i am Veronique and i am 42. I am a qualified school teacher but after 7 years of teaching, i decided to take a break to raise our children, Lily and Merlin, the faces of @_bouledecoton_ . When our son started kindergarten, i felt like i needed a professional activity again. So naturally, i became the assistant in my husband’s chiropractic office !
Since very little, our daughter Lily suffered skin problems that worsened with each year. Like many parents, we looked for solutions to make her feel better. We read many articles. We changed our diet, tested numerous creams, handmade our detergent and soaps. And we started questioning the clothes she wore. The skin being a big “sponge”, we thoroughly examined the clothes tags and studied all the chemicals in them to find out which ones could be the cause of cutaneous reactions. And the list is long: more than 8000 toxic chemicals are found in a regular cotton teeshirt! Most of them affect the endocrine system and are responsible for early puberty and infertility !
So that’s when i decided to create Boule de Coton, an organic brand with ethics. I choose pieces made of certified organic cotton and printed with organic inks that respect and protect our kids skins and Nature. I imagine clothes that wont “age”, often unisex, and that can be handed down to many siblings (enough of “disposable” clothes that last a season and unnecessary waste!). I call upon the talent of local artists to limit my carbon print, i use recycled or recyclable packaging… I donate a fraction of my sales to Graine de Baobab, an association based in Burkina Faso…
Boule de Coton is first and foremost a family adventure. We aren’t sales specialists, nor web marketing gurus. We simply do our best day in and day out to change things around us.
We believe in the butterfly effect : if everybody tries their best, then the changes can be spectacular !
