Our easy recipe for making laundry
The organic cotton we use in our range is 100% organic, healthy for our children’s skin and extremely long lasting/wearing. To look after your product we recommend washing it with an organic laundry detergent, gentle on the skin of our little ones and the product.
Here is our home made laundry detergent recipe. It is quick and easy, can be custom made a million times, is gentle for everybody’s skin and respectful of Nature.
The cherry on the cake, it is cheap !
Ingredients (For 1 Liter of detergent) :
- 50 grams of “Marseille soap” shavings
- 1 Liter of water
- 1 table spoon of soda bicarbonate
- 10 drops of your favorite essential oil (mine is Ylang-ylang!)
CAUTION : to consider when adding essential oils
Essential oils are prohibited for babies of 3 months or less (except when prescribed medically).
Some essential oils are toxic to children, particularly the ones with terpenes (juniper, turpentine and lemon) and ketones (sage, camphor tree…) . If some essential oils may be dangerous, most of them do not present any risks and contraindications. Some even have healing properties.
Dissolve the Marseille soap in warm water. Wait until the mix has completely cooled down.
Add the soda bicarbonate and stir well. I use an electric whisk so that once cooled, the detergent is thick which makes the dosage easier. When i use a normal whisk, the mix remains too “liquidy”.
Add your essential oil and stir again.
Your detergent is ready !!!! I use approximately 3 to 4 tea spoons of detergent per washing load.
